General FAQs
What is Sports Medicine?
Sports Medicine is a specialty of a medicine that relates to sports injury, sports nutrition, sports training and exercise, so of course, many of our patients are athletes. However, we also help treat musculoskeletal injuries and conditions in non-athletes. If you suffer from foot pain, joint pain or back pain, we may be able to find a treatment that’s right for you.
What are your business hours?
Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but some of our physicians and physical therapists see patients in the evenings. Our Silver Spring office provides evening appointments until 6:00 p.m. Please inquire with our front desk staff if you have any questions about scheduling an appointment.
We are closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We are pleased to participate with a wide variety of insurance providers and we accept almost all major insurances. However, we suggest you verify your eligibility for services with your insurance company. For a more comprehensive list of accepted insurance plans, click here.
Can X-Rays be done at your office?
Yes, our in-house X-Ray technician provides on-site X-Ray imaging which allows us to determine the extent of an injury without having to send patients to a radiologist.
How fast can I schedule an appointment and be seen?
Appointment availability varies day-to-day, but typically we can schedule a visit and have you seen by one of our providers within a week. While it is not guaranteed, some same day appointments may be available.
Do you treat patients of all ages?
Yes! Injuries, chronic pain, and other musculoskeletal conditions are experienced by everyone, so we treat everyone. The only exception to this is for infants, as we will not see children typically younger than 3 years old.
Whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, a recreational runner or biker, a dancer, or a pee wee athlete, we will assist you in a professional and compassionate manner.
Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
It depends on your insurance plan. A referral is required for the following insurance options:
- Wellpoint
- Priority Partners
- Carefirst Community Plan
- Maryland Physicians Care
- Aetna Better Health
- MedStar Family Choice MD
All other accepted insurances do not need a referral.
Can I get an X-Ray with a cast on?
Yes, we do not need to remove a cast for an X-Ray unless there has been a change in a fracture, the cast is broken, or the patient no longer needs it.
